== Lesson 16 == Things that prevent adjective
changes
|
|
Y1. Things that prevent changes to descriptive
adjectives
Descriptive adjectives for "changeable" nouns
(feminine singular and personal masculine
plural) undergo soft changes. However in some cases
the change cannot happen.
In all cases we have changes to the consonants G, GW, B
and M ( partial softenings) :
-
- G/C'H
- ur vantell c'hlas
-
- GW/W
- un daol wenn
-
- B/V
- ur vag vras
-
- M/V
- ur verc'h vat
But changes to the consonants K, T, P
will occur only if the preceding nouns end in
the consonants L, N, M, R,V, or
a vowel :
-
- K/G
- tud kozh
- but studierien
gozh
-
- P/B
- paotred pinvidik
- but kendirvi
binvidik
-
- T/D
- Bretoned trist
- but kelennerien
drist
Y2. Total soft changes
They also occur:
- after the masculin singulier possessive
e, like after the possessive
da :
- E vamm hag e dad
- Da daol ha da
gador
- after the numbers daou and div :
- Daou baotr ha div
blac'h
- after the pronounsunan and
hini, (feminine only)
and plural re :
- Unan kozh pe unan gozh zo war
an hent
- An hini bihan (ur paotr), an
hini vras (ur plac'h)
- Ar re vihan hag ar re
vras
- after the adverb re :
- Re gozh oc'h !
Y3. Changes after numbers
Soft changes occur after daou and
div.
Aspirated changes ( seen in lesson 13) after
tri, teir, pevar,
peder, nav.
- Daou gi ha tri c'hazh zo en e
di
